Shag Cove, East Falklands - March 1999

Shag Cove was a place people went for R&R. A few miles walk away is the wreckage of a Puma and two Hueys of the Argentinean Air Force, they were bounced by a Harrier and destroyed. One at least was carrying mortar bombs which are still scattered around the area.

Onion Ranges - West Falklands - 1999

The only way to still really get around is by BV202 SnoCat or helicopter. We were rigging this one for onmove further north into the Island.

The Governor's house as it is today, no change apart from replacing the broken windows.

Mount Alice, Eastern Falklands - May 1999

This is Ian Berry at 751SU where the only way to supply it is by helicopter. Believe it or not you need to wear sunscreen here or you will get burned - a dramatic example of the hole in the ozone! The cloud can also come in rapidly and it's weird to see a container dangling out of the mist as the Chinook is still above cloud.

Ascension Island - January 1997

This is Ascension now. The Antonov 124 was there to collect an Atlas transfer loader and I flew down from Stansted with it. Amazingly the Flight Director on board was none other than Hugh Curran, ex-UKMAMS. I believe he still owes me for his DF's!

To orientate you this is a photo of the Nose Hangar taken in Jan 97. The Vulcan was parked just behind the steps. Down below out of shot to the right was the freight park and where the Hercs were parked.

Operation Vigour - Somalia - January 1993

This was taken in Mombasa and the movers are: Flight Sergeant Alex Simpson, Sergeant Paddy Power and SAC Bob Whitworth. The loadmasters were Flight Lieutenant Arthur Kingdom and MALM Pete Scott ( both golfing bandits)
