We  are getting to be old hands at loading the new C17's, especially in the last few weeks.  Not only are we shoulder to shoulder with our American cousins, but as the picture shows, we are wing tip to wing tip. The RAF C17 is on the left

Presentation to RAF Detachment - Thumrait Oman

We took pity on the RAF Movements Detachment here in Thumrait - all those poor movers with nowhere to sit and contemplate the days on their "Chuff Charts" so OBA Global to the rescue!  This is Keith Parker handing over the seats to FS Bob Redman.

"Parker" Benches in Thumrait, Oman - 12 August 2002

The two park benches were made out of dunnage - what else for Movers?   A gift to the RAF Detachment from the OBA Chaps in old Thumrait (Midway to the older amongst you) Keith Parker, Mike Maybery, Bob Whitworth, Brian Harper and yes that is Al Stacey sat at the end still alive and kicking!

Quite a change from cargo restraint nets to shiny single hammocks - but whatever is used it does allow the occupant a comfortable place to relax.  It certainly beats sitting in an upright position on the paratrooper seats!

Shuggie Shewan is enjoying the hammock somewhere over the Gulf of Arabia en route to Bahrain in support of the Nimrods, November 2001.
